Australian Studies Center

The Australian Studies Center was established on November 19, 1999, with the aim of helping more people to understand the societies and cultures of Australia and China. The center was registered with the Ministry of Education in 2017. Since its establishment, the Australian Studies Centre has been hosting the 'Australian Culture Week' annually. The center also organized or participated in various domestic and international academic events, including the 'Australian Writers Week' and the 'Australia Foundation Annual Meeting. ASC currently has eight 'National Foreign Experts in Culture and Education' from leading universities in Australia. Two of them received the “Chinese Government's Friendship Award” and the “Beijing Great Wall Friendship Award” respectively. These eight experts have made significant contributions to student cultivation, discipline development, and scientific research of Renmin University through a series of lectures, classroom teaching, and individual thesis guidance. As of 2017, more than 100 master and doctoral students experienced rigorous training at the Australia Studies Centre. Among them, more than 50 students chose to pursue degrees in Australia, participate in short-term exchanges, attend international conferences, or obtain full scholarships from Deakin University. The Governor-General of Australia and all the Australian Ambassadors to China since the turn of the century have participated in Renmin University's 'Australian Culture Week' or other important events. Two Australian Prime Ministers wrote forewords for the  Commemorative Collections  compiled by ASC.
