Stephen Lucas on Public Speaking


English is becoming a world language, and the ability of English public speaking is becoming more and more important. To help students to improve their skill in public speaking, the School of Foreign Languages invited Professor Stephen. E. Lucas, an expert in public speaking, to give a speech at the school. Professor Lucas illustrated the art of public speaking by citing the example of the famous speech of I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King.
 
                 
 
A professor of Communication Arts in the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Stephen Lucas has received a number of awards by publishing his The Art of Public Speaking. He was invited to judge finals of the China Daily —21st Century National English Language Public Speaking Competition in 2002, 2003, 2004 and the finals of the CCTV Cup National English Speaking Contest in the year 2004.
 
 
The speech given by Professor Lucas impressed every audience for his great skill in speaking and the encouraging speech by Martin. Luther King.
“This is a great speech,” many students said after the speech.
