The School of Foreign Languages grew out of the former Department of Foreign Languages, and changed its name in November 2001. Indeed, foreign languages and literature were one of the first major disciplines offered by the university in its early days.
RUC began to offer admission to undergraduate and postgraduate students majoring in Russian at the beginning of the 1950s. In 1978, the university began to offer English courses to train language teachers.
At present, the School of Foreign Languages includes five language majors: English, Russian, Japanese, German and French for undergraduate studies.
